On behalf of the poem the poet discusses about the importance of music and lyrics in the life of human beings. He says that the songs are the way by which we can deliver the emotions of the human to the God and understand the sense of our spirit. The poet discloses secret of happiness. He says that singing a song makes us very close to our soul and keeps us busy in our routine work. Such as the solitary reaper works regularly in a perfect way without getting tired. Basically the poet presents the song a voice of nature. He says that due to the impression of the song waves are created in the still water of the ocean and the creatures of the Hebrides stop its natural habits and listen the song peacefully. The valleys are also singing the song together with the maiden.
इस कविता के माध्यम से कवि मानव जीवन में संगीत के महत्त्व को बताता है। वह कहता है कि गीत वो मार्ग है जिसके माध्यम से हम मानव भावनाओं को ईश्वर तक प्रेषित कर सकते हैं तथा अपनी आत्मा की भावना को समझ सकते हैं। कवि खुशी का राज खोलता है। वह कहता है कि गीत गाना हमें हमारी आत्मा के बहत नजदीक ले जाता है और हमें अपने कार्य में लिप्त कर देता है जैसे कि सोलेटरी रीपर बिना थके लगातार कार्य कर रही है। मुख्यतया कवि लड़की के गीत को प्रकृति का गीत कहता है। वह कहता है कि गीत के प्रभाव से महासागर के शान्त पानी में लहरें उठने लगती हैं तथा द्वीप समूह के सभी जीव-जन्तु अपनी व्यावहारिक आदतों को छोड़कर लड़की का गीत सुनने में मस्त हैं। कवि महसूस करता है कि ये वादियाँ भी उस लड़की के गीत का अनुसरण कर रही हैं।

The poet William Wordsworth uses various literary terms or figures of speech in this poem. In the beginning of the poem the poet uses wonderful metaphor. He introduces the nature in the form of a beautiful young lady who is busy in her work of reaping harvest and singing a song. Here the poet presents the nature as young as a maiden so that we finds the brilliant use of simile because the poet presents the nature as young as the maiden and finds equal sense of dedication in the highland lass. Further more the poet uses comparison and presents the song of the girl sweeter than the Nightingale’s. He says that no nightingale can sing better than the girl. He declares that the cuckoo bird cannot stand in her comparison. Basically we find the use of metaphor in a vivid form.
