Rajasthan Board RBSE Class 5 English Grammar Article
‘A’, ‘An’ तथा ‘The’ को Articles कहा जाता है। सामान्यतया इनका प्रयोग Noun (संज्ञा) से पहले होता है। ‘The’ का प्रयोग स्वर ध्वनि (Vowel Sound) से शुरू होने वाले शब्द से पहले होने पर इसका उच्चारण ‘दें’ जबकि व्यंजन ध्वनि (Consonant Sound) से शुरू होने वाले शब्द से पहले होने पर ‘दी’ होता है।
A तथा An का प्रयोग
Rules –
- Singular Noun (एकवचन संज्ञा) से पहले होता है।
- Countable Noun (गिनी जाने योग्य संज्ञा) के पहले होता है।
दूसरे शब्दों में –
- Plural Noun के पहले तथा
- Uncountables के पहले a अथवा an का प्रयोग कभी नहीं होगा।
उदाहरण
निम्नलिखित सही हैं क्योंकि countable हैं तथा singular हैं –
a pen, a woman, an orange, …..
निम्नलिखित गलत हैं क्योंकि ‘uncountables हैं। अथवा plural हैं –
a girls, a milk, a water, an apples, ….
An Article का प्रयोग
An’ के प्रयोग की दशाएँ –
(i) Noun-Singular हो।
(ii) Noun–Countable हो।
(iii) Vowels (a, e, i, o, u) से शुरू होने वाले शब्दों के पहले an का प्रयोग किया जाता है। इन शब्दों की ध्वनि प्रायः हिन्दी के स्वर से निकलती है। अतः दूसरे शब्दों में, अंग्रेजी के शब्द की ध्वनि, यदि हिन्दी के स्वर (अ, आ, इ, ई, उ, ऊ, ए, ऐ, ओ, ‘ औ…) से निकले तो ‘an’ article आयेगा।
दूसरे शब्दों में, an article स्वर की ध्वनि पर लगता है।

‘A’ Article का प्रयोग
‘A’ के प्रयोग की दशाएँ –
- Noun-singular हो।
- Noun-countable हो।
- उस जाति के समस्त प्राणियों अथवा वस्तुओं का बोध कराये।
- व्यंजन की ध्वनि हो।

‘The’ Article का प्रयोग निम्न दशाओं में होता है।
Rule : 1. मन्दिरों के नाम के पहले –

Rule : 2. ऐसी चीजें जो अपने ढंग की एक ही हैं। किन्तु Proper noun नहीं हैं –
the sky, the earth, the moon
the sun, the world
Rule : 3. दिशाओं के नाम के पहले
the east
the north
the west
the south
Rule : 4. Superlative degree के पहले ‘the का प्रयोग होता है। (पहचान-शब्द के पहले most होता है या शब्द के अन्त में -est होता है)
the most handsome
the darkest room
the greatest man
the smallest city
Rule : 5. ऐतिहासिक भवनों के नाम के पहले –
the Red Fort
the Taj Mahal
Rule : 6. पर्वत-श्रेणियों के नाम से पहले ‘the लगता है, लेकिन एकल पर्वत या पर्वत की चोटी के नाम के पहले कोई Article नहीं लगेगा।
Rule : 7. नहरों, नदियों, सागरों, महासागरों तथा खाड़ी के नाम से पहले।

Rule : 8. समाचार पत्र, राजनीतिक दल, मरुस्थल, वाद्ययंत्रों के नाम से पहले –
the Rajasthan Patrika, the BJP, the Congress Party, the Sahara desert, the flute
Rule : 9. Both’ के तुरन्त बाद ‘the article आयेगा।
Both the pairs are white
Rule : 10. यदि एक ही शब्द, उसी अवतरण में, उसी व्यक्ति अथवा वस्तु के लिए दुबारा प्रयोग में आये तो पहली बार आवश्यकतानुसार a अथवा an का प्रयोग होगा, लेकिन दूसरी बार the का प्रयोग होगा
- I have a mobile. The mobile is beautiful.
- A girl was weeping. The girl was hungry.
Rule : 11. किसी शब्द समूह (Phrase) या उपवाक्य (clause) द्वारा सुनिश्चित होने वाले Noun के पहले भी the का प्रयोग होगा –
- The book of Naveen was lost.
- The school of boys is good.
- The house where Teekam lives in, is very big.
Article का निषेध (अर्थात् कोई Article नहीं लगेगा).
Rule : 1 : व्यक्ति, शहर व देश के नाम से पहले कोई Article नहीं लगेगा –

Rule : 2 : सप्ताह के दिनों व महीनों के नाम के पहले कोई Article नहीं लगेगा –

Rule : 3 : खेलों के नाम के पहले कोई Article नहीं लगेगा –

Rule : 4 : भाषाओं व पढ़ाई के विषयों के पहले कोई Article नहीं लगेगा –

Rule : 5 : पर्वत शिखरों के नाम के पहले कोई Article नहीं लगेगा –

Rule : 6 : कृषि पदार्थ, खनिज पदार्थ व तरल पदार्थ के पहले कोई Article नहीं आयेगा –
विशेष नोट : यदि उपर्युक्त का प्रयोग ‘विशेष’ के भाव में किया गया है तो इनके पहले the आयेगा।
Golden Rule : जिस शब्द के बाद ‘of’ अथवा Wh- हो तो उस शब्द के पहले ‘the article’ लगा दो
- Milk is good for babies. (कोई Article नहीं)
The milk of this cow is good.
(विशेष दूध – इस गाय का दूध) - She wants to drink × milk.
The milk which she drank, was good.
