Question 1.
Find the area of polygon according to the measurement given in the figure.

Solution:
Area of polygon JKLMN
= Area of figure 1 + Area of figure 2 + Area of figure 3 + Area of figure 4 + Area of figure 5

= 300 + 4400 + 1750 + 2600 + 1400
= 10450 meter²

Each side of the hexagon ABCDEF has side of length 5 cm as given in the figure. Riya and Riema And the area of the region by dividing it into two parts in two different manner. Compare the area(RBSESolutions.com)in both the case.

Solution:
Ria’s Method
Area of hexagonal shape ABCDEF = Area of ∆AFE + Area of rectangle ∆EDB + Area of ∆BCD
= \(\frac { 1 }{ 2 }\) x 8 x 3 + 8 x 5 + \(\frac { 1 }{ 2 }\) x 8 x 3
= 12 + 40 + 12
= 64 cm²
Raima’s Method
Area of hexagonal shape ABCDEF
= Area of(RBSESolutions.com)trapezium ABCF + Area of trapezium FCDE
= \(\frac { 1 }{ 2 }\) x (5 + 11) x 4 + \(\frac { 1 }{ 2 }\) x (5 + 11) x 4
= 32 + 32
= 64 cm²
Hence, both areas are same.

Question 3.
The measurement of each part of the farm of Ramlal is given in the figure. Find the total cost of ploughing at the rate of Rs. 4 per meter.

Solution:

Area of field = Area of figure 1 + Area of figure 2 + Area of figure 3 + Area of figure 4 + Area of figure 5 + Area of figure 6

= 3575 + 3600 + 700 + 2450 + 6600 + 2625
= 19550 meter²
Cost of ploughing at the rate of = Rs 4 per meter
Cost of ploughing to 19550 sq. unit(RBSESolutions.com)farm = 19550 x 4 = Rs 78,200
Hence the required cost = Rs 78,200
