Resolution Theme Of The Lesson
The present story, “Resolution” is a masterpiece of simple style. In the present story, the author puts stress on the importance of water. We all know that water is necessary to our life. Without water we cannot expect the survival of our life on the earth. The author describes the role of trees and the rain harvesting to make people understand how useful and important water in our life is . The story is thought-provoking because the author desires every one should know its importance and work for its protection. The story teaches us to plant more trees and save water for the coming generation. The story holds a clear message for the people that water is invaluable in our life and we must understand its importance.
Resolution Short Summary
Anna’s village: He came to his village during summer vacation. He found the village in a hopeless condition. The land was dry and parched. The sources of water had dried up.
The village chowkidaar: The chowkidaar informed Anna about the critical situation of the village. He told him that all the sources of water had dried up and a few of the villagers had gone to the temple to offer special prayer.
Anna’s reaction: He was studying science. He did not support the ideas of the villagers. He knew that they had a tendency to leave the hard work for others or wait for the avatar of God.
Anna’s goal: He was different from his friends. He wanted to work for the upliftment of his village after completing his education. He was well aware that his parents had sent him to the college for study in spite of critical financial situation.
Anna’s dream: He saw a macabre vision. He saw only bombs, dilapidated buildings, charged mangled bodies and heaps of corpses in his dream. He also saw the waters of all the rivers and oceans had turned into red.
Anna’s reaction to the dream: He never wanted his dreadful dream to turn into a reality. He expressed his dream to the village youths. He also described the importance of water and the role of trees in conserving water. He made them aware that they must do something to avoid the Third World War, which could be fought for water.
Resolution: Anna and the youths of the village took a resolution that they would train the villagers in modern methods of farming, water management and other social issues. The rising sun became the source of energy for them. Hence, they started the works for the upliftment of the village.

प्रस्तुत कहानी ‘Resolution’ सामान्य शैली में लिखी गई एक उत्कृष्ट कृति है। इस कहानी में लेखक पानी के महत्व पर जोर देते हैं। हम सब जानते हैं कि पानी हमारे जीवन के लिए आवश्यक है। पानी के बिना हम इस पृथ्वी पर जीवन की कल्पना भी नहीं कर सकते। लेखक वृक्षों के महत्व तथा वर्षा के पानी के संग्रहण के महत्व को वर्णित करते हुए लोगों को बताना चाहते हैं कि हमारे जीवन में जल की क्या उपयोगिता और महत्व है। यह कहानी विचार प्रेरक है क्योंकि लेखक की यह इच्छा है कि हर कोई पानी के संरक्षण के महत्व को समझे तथा इसके प्रति कार्यशील हो। यह कहानी हमें यह शिक्षा देती है कि अत्यधिक मात्रा में वृक्षारोपण तथा पानी की संरक्षा आगमी पीढ़ियों हेतु करें। यह कहानी लोगों को स्पष्ट संदेश देती है कि पानी जीवन के लिए बहुमूल्य है। तथा हमें इसके महत्व को समझना चाहिए।
संक्षिप्त सारांश
अन्ना का गाँव: वह अपने गाँव गर्मियों की छुट्टियों में आया। गाँव की अवस्था बेहद खराब थी। धरती सूखी और तप रही थी। पानी के स्रोत सूख चुके थे।
गाँव का चौकीदार : चौकीदार ने अन्ना को गाँव की विषम स्थिति के बारे में बताया। उसने उससे कहा कि पानी के सभी स्रोत सूख चुके हैं तथा कुछ ग्रामीण मंदिर में विशेष प्रार्थना हेतु गए हैं।
अन्ना की प्रतिक्रिया : वह विज्ञान पढ़ रहा था। वह गाँववालों के विचारों का समर्थक नहीं था। वह जानता था कि कठिन काम को दूसरों पर छोड़ देने की उनकी आदत थी या फिर वे भगवान के अवतार की प्रतीक्षा करते थे।
अन्ना का लक्ष्यः वह अपने दोस्तों से अलग था। अपनी शिक्षा पूरी कर लेने के बाद वह गाँव के स्तरोन्नयन के लिए काम करना चाहता था। वह इस बात को भली-भाँति जानता था कि उसके माता-पिता ने विषम आर्थिक परिस्थितियों के बावजूद उसे अध्ययन के लिए कॉलेज में भेजा था।
अन्ना का स्वप्नः उसने एक बड़ा ही डरावना सपना देखा। उसने केवल बम, मकानों का विध्वंस तथा क्षत-विक्षत लोगों का अंबार सपने में देखा। उसने यह भी सपने में देखा कि सभी नदियों तथा समुद्रों का पानी लाल हो गया है।
स्वप्न पर अन्ना की प्रतिक्रिया : वह कभी नहीं चाहता था कि उसका यह डरावना स्वप्न वास्तविकता का रूप ग्रहण करे। उसने अपने इस स्वप्न का वर्णन गाँव के युवकों के समक्ष किया। उसने पानी को महत्व तथा जल के संरक्षण हेतु वृक्षों की भूमिका का भी वर्णन किया। उसने उन्हें इस बात से अवगत किया कि तीसरे विश्व युद्ध को टालने के लिए कुछ करें जो कि पानी के लिए लड़ा जा सकता है।
संकल्पः अन्ना तथा गाँव के नवयुवकों ने इस बात का संकल्प लिया कि वे गाँव वालों को कृषि के आधुनिक तरीकों जल-प्रबंधन तथा अन्य सामाजिक मुद्दों पर प्रशिक्षण देंगे। उगता हुआ सूरज उनकी ऊर्जा का स्रोत बन गया। अतः उन्होंने गाँव के स्तरोन्नयन के लिए काम प्रारंभ कर दिया।

Passage-1: (Page 71)
Anna, a young boy, had just returned to his village from the college hostel during his summer vacation.
As he trudged towards his home, he saw the sun going below the horizon and the western skies flashed with the orange-russet streaks of light.
The scene of the setting sun always put him in low spirits.
He himself didn’t know, why?
एक युवा लड़का अन्ना अपने कॉलेज के हॉस्टल से गर्मियों की छुट्टियों में अभी-अभी गाँव आया था।
जब वह पैदल अपने घर की तरफ जा रहा था, उसने देखा कि सूर्य क्षितिज के नीचे जा रहा है।
और पश्चिमी आकाश नारंगी-गेरुआ रंग के प्रकाश की कौंध के साथ दमक रहा था।
सूर्यास्त के समय हमेशा उसका उत्साह कम हो जाता था।
वह खुद नहीं जानता था कि क्यों?
Passage-2: (Page 71)
The land was dry and parched.
At places it appeared as if futile attempts had been made at ploughing, the ploughed ridges had hardened.
Here and there, cacti of different shapes grew.
A solitary crow perched in the old babul tree.
Anna was struck by the unusual tranquillity all around, which was pierced by the collective twittering of the birds soaring high in the skies.
The jovial fields where the farmers ploughed, enjoyed and sang, the meadows where the cattle grazed-why were they deserted?
धरती सूखी और तप रही थी।
कई स्थानों पर ऐसा प्रतीत हो रहा था कि खेत जोतने के असफल प्रयास किए गए हैं।
इससे खेत की मेड़े और कठोर हो गई थी।
कैक्टी के पेड़ विभिन्न आकारों में इधर-उधर उग आए थे।
एक कौआ पुराने बबूल के पेड़ पर अकेला बैठा था। चारों तरफ की इस असामान्य नीवरता से वह आक्रांत था।
इसे ऊँचे आसमान में उड़ने वाली चिड़ियों की चहचहाहट भंग कर रही थी। वे खेत जहाँ प्रसन्नचित किसान जुताई करते थे, गाते और
आनंदित होते थे, वे पास के मैदान जहाँ पशु चरते थे, वे क्यों पलायन कर गए?
Passage-3: (Page 71)
He missed the chirpy, little faces plucking berries from the thorny ber trees or playing cricket with their battered bats, and small, stiff stems of trees as wickets.
Anna watched the fallow lands spread across the distant horizon with eyes wide open, but did not perceive a human soul.
He was unable to comprehend what the matter was.
Strange thoughts crossed his mind. Has something inauspicious happened in his little village?
उसे कोलाहल के साथ कॅटीले बेर के पेड़ से बेर तोड़ते बच्चे या मारने वाले बैट या छोटे किंतु मजबूत तने का विकेट बनाकर क्रिकेट खेलते बच्चे भी कहीं नहीं दिखाई पड़े।
उसने चारों तरफ फैली विस्तृत परती जमीन पर एक भरपूर दृष्टि डाली। किंतु उसने किसी भी मानवीय आत्मा को महसूस नहीं किया।
वह इस बात को समझने में असमर्थ था कि आखिर मामला क्या है।
विचित्र-विचित्र प्रकार की बातें उसके मन में आ रही थी। क्या इस छोटे से गाँव में कुछ अशुभ अपघटित हुआ है?
Passage-4: (Page 71)
He treaded with quick steps, but his luggage slackened his pace.
He passed by the village pathshala, where the evening classes were held for the children and the youth.
The silence of this familiar place jarred on his ears –
no students sitting on the sack mats,
no reprimanding by the master-saab,
no nodding heads memorizing tables, do ekam do, do duni chaar’,
no heads bent low over their slates,
no writing boards propped up against the wall to dry in the air.
उसने तेजी के साथ कदम बढ़ाया किंतु उसके सामान ने उसकी गति को मंद कर दिया।
वह गाँव की पाठशाला से गुजर रहा था जहां कि बच्चों एवं युवाओं के लिए संध्याकालीन कक्षाएँ लगती थीं।
इस जाने-पहचाने स्थान की शांति उसके कानों को अप्रिय लगी।
कोई भी छात्र बोरे की चटाई पर नहीं बैठा था।
मास्टर साहब के द्वारा कोई डाँट-फटकार नहीं हो रही थी।
‘दो एकम दो, दो दूनी चार’ की सारणी को याद करता
कोई भी ऊँघता हुआ सिर नजर नहीं आ रहा था।
कोई भी सिर स्लेट की तरफ झुका हुआ नहीं था।
कोई लेखन बोर्ड हवा में सूखने के लिए दीवारों से टेक लगाकर नहीं रखा था।
Passage-5: (Page 71)
Anna moved ahead. The village chaupaal was empty.
As he came close to the houses, he thought of the pleasant aroma of the evening food being cooked, which used to make him ravenous, but this familiar smell, too, was missing, the village dog barked at him.
Has he become a stranger in his own village?
Suddenly, he caught a glimpse of the chowkidaar, a frail man, with milk white-beard, wearing a shabby dhoti-kurta.
अन्ना आगे बढ़ा। गाँव की चौपाल खाली थी। जब वह घरों के नजदीक पहुँचा।
वह शाम का खाना बनाते समय आने वाली गंध के बारे में सोच रहा था। इससे उसे बहुत भूख लगती थी। किंतु यह जानी-पहचानी गंध भी नहीं आ रही थी।
गाँव के कुत्तों ने उस पर भौंकना प्रारंभ कर दिया। क्या वह अपने ही गाँव में अपरिचित हो गया है?
एकाएक, उसे गाँव का चौकीदार दिखाई पड़ा। सफेद दाड़ियों वाला एक कमजोर आदमी जो कि एक फटी-पुरानी धोती-कुर्ता पहने हुए था।
Passage-6: (Page 71)
Anna asked, “Baba, what’s the matter?
Where have the villagers gone?”
The old man answered, “All the villagers have gone to the village temple to offer special midnight prayer to appease God as there is a severe drought in the village.
Although there was sufficient rain this year, yet all the sources of water have dried up.
To them it is indicative of the fury of God.”
अन्ना ने कहा, “बाबा, क्या बात है?
ग्रामीण कहाँ चले गए?”
वृद्ध व्यक्ति ने उत्तर दिया, गाँव के सभी लोग गाँव के मंदिर में विशेष मध्यरात्रि में ईश्वर की प्रार्थना हेतु गए हैं। क्योंकि गाँव में सभी जगह सूखा की स्थिति है।
हालाँकि इस वर्ष पर्याप्त वर्षा हुई थी, फिर भी जले के सभी स्रोत सूख गए हैं।
वे इसे ईश्वर का प्रकोप समझ रहे हैं।
Passage-7: (Page 72)
The chowkidaar heaved a deep sigh and said,
“The villagers are starving and their existence is in perils.
They have nothing to look forward to.
A few villagers have already migrated to the cities in search of jobs, thinking that this village is cursed.”
Anna decided that he will not join the villagers in the temple.
चौकीदार ने एक लंबी साँस भरी तथा कहा,
“गाँववाले भूखों मर रहे हैं तथा उनका अस्तित्व खतरे में है।
उनके पास खोजने के लिए कुछ भी नहीं है।
कुछ ग्रामीण काम की तलाश में शहरों की तरफ पलायन कर चुके हैं। यह सोचना कि यह गाँव शापित हो चुका है।”
अन्ना ने यह निर्णय किया कि वह गाँव वालों के साथ मंदिर नहीं जाएगा।
Passage-8: (Page 72)
He thought that the village folk do not endeavour to find a solution to any grave problem because of the lack of proper education.
If things become unbearable, they need God to descend on earth to fight their battle.
They hopefully wait for an avatar.
In the hour of crisis, they do not realize that “God helps those who help themselves.”
उसका विचार था कि जनता के प्रयत्न इस गंभीर समस्या से निपटने में इसलिए असफल हो रहे हैं क्योंकि उनमें समुचित शिक्षा का अभाव है।
जब स्थितियाँ असहनीय हो जाती हैं तो वह इस बात की अपेक्षा करते हैं कि भगवान पृथ्वी पर अवतरित होंगे और उनकी लड़ाई लड़ेंगे।
वे किसी अवतार की प्रतीक्षा करते हैं।
संकटकाल में वे यह नहीं समझते कि भगवान उसी की मदद करते हैं जो अपनी मदद स्वयं करता है।
Passage-9: (Page 72)
Evening gave way to twilight And twilight sank into darkness.
He was alone in his hut.
He turned up the wick of the lantern.
Its sooty chimney became bright.
Anna’s thoughts flew back to the past.
He remembered how his parents, inspite of the stringent financial conditions, sent him to a prestigious science college in the city.
His strong will to prove himself, won him the award of the best student of the college.
शाम धुंधलके तथा धुंधलका अंधकार में परिवर्तित हो गया।
वह अपनी झोंपड़ी में अकेला था।
उसने लालटेन की बत्ती को ऊपर उठाया।
उसकी कजली चिमनी प्रकाशवान हो उठी।
अन्ना पिछली बातों को याद करने लगा।
उसने स्मरण किया कि कैसे उनके माता-पिता ने कठिन आर्थिक परिस्थितियों के बावजूद उसे शहर के साइंस कॉलेज में पढ़ने के लिए भेजा।
उसकी दृढ़ इच्छा-शक्ति ने अपनी क्षमता को सिद्ध किया तथा कॉलेज का सर्वश्रेष्ठ छात्र का सम्मान प्राप्त किया।
Passage-10: (Page 72)
Anna was firmly determined that after completing his education, he would return to his small village and work for its upliftments.
He always thought of employing modern methods of farming in his village and educating the villagers on environment,
water management and other issues.
He was totally different from other classmates, who always dreamt of earning in dollars and leading a luxurious life in foreign country.
अन्ना ने यह अंतिम निर्णय लिया कि शिक्षा समाप्ति के बाद वह अपने छोटे-से गाँव में लौट जाएगा तथा उसके उत्पात के लिए काम करेगा।
कृषि में अत्याधुनिक तकनीकों के प्रयोग के बारे में वह हमेशा सोचते रहता था। वह गाँव वालों को पर्यावरण,
जल प्रबंधन तथा अन्य विषयों की भी शिक्षा देना चाहता था।
वह अपने सहपाठियों से बिल्कुल ही भिन्न था। वे हमेशा डॉलर में कमाने की सोचते थे एवं विदेश में आरामदायक जिंदगी बिताना चाहते थे।
Passage-11: (Page 72)
As he was reflecting on the goal of his life, his eyelids became heavy and he went off to sleep.
Anna, then, saw a macabre vision.
There were “Bombs, bombs, everywhere and not a place to hide.
He could clearly see the blazing homes, dilapidated buildings, charred, mangled bodies and mounds of corpses.
The entire atmosphere was resounding with the whining sounds, cries of lamentation and agony.
जब वह अपने जीवन के लक्ष्य के बारे में चिंतन कर रहा था, तब उसकी पलकें बोझिल होती गई तथा वह सो गया।
तब अन्ना ने बड़ा ही डरावना सपना देखा।
चारों तरफ बम ही बम थे तथा छुपने की कोई जगह कहीं नहीं बची थी।
वह जलते हुए घरों, ध्वस्त हुए मकानों, जली हुई क्षत-विक्षत लाशें, तथा इनके अंबार को साफ देख सकता था।
पूरा वातावरण चीखने-चिल्लाने की आवाजों, रुदन-क्रंदन एवं विलाप की प्रतिध्वनि से गूंज रहा था।
Passage-12: (Page 72)
He heard a pathetic voice, “My throat is parched.
Can someone give me a drop of water?” and within a few moments the feeble voice became silent.
Leaks of blood sprang from the lines of the old, wrinkled face.
On the other side, a heart-rendering shriek of a woman was audible to him.
She had gone insane, because she had lost everything.
She was holding the dead body of her child in her arms and staring at the body with vacant eyes.
Another explosion and she attained eternal peace.
उसने एक कारुणिक आवज सुनी, “मेरा गला सूख गया है।
क्या कोई मुझे एक बूंद पानी दे सकता है।” तथा कुछ ही मिनटों के अंदर वह कमजोर आवाज खामोश
हो गई। एक झुरींदार बूढ़े व्यक्ति के चेहरे की लकीरों से रक्त की बूंदें टपकने लगीं।
दूसरी तरफ से उसे एक स्त्री की हृदयविदारक चीख सुनाई पड़ी।
वह विक्षिप्त हो गई थी, क्योंकि उसने अपना सब कुछ खो। दिया था।
वह अपनी बाँहों में अपने मृत बच्चे का शब लिए हुए थी।
तथा शून्यभरी आँखों से अपने बेटे को देख रही थी।
दूसरे विस्फोट के साथ वह बूढ़ा सर्वदा के लिए चिर-चिर निद्रा में।
Passage-13: (Pages 72 & 73)
Anna, then, saw an incredible sight.
The waters of all the rivers and oceans had turned red. He wondered, why?
Is it the blood of the human beings?
There were a tormenting pain within him and a deep horror in his eyes.
He shrieked, “No, it can not be true.”
However, it was true.
The Third World War had started
and the reason for this tragic event was “Water Crisis”.
The countries with huge stores of pure water were being attacked by other countries to capture their water- pockets.
Will the entire humanity perish?
तब अन्ना ने एक अविश्वसनीय दृश्य देखा।
सभी नदियों तथा समुद्रों का पानी लाल हो गया।
उसे विस्मय हुआ, ऐसा क्यों?
क्या यह मानव के शरीर का रक्त है?
वह एक यंत्रणादायक पीड़ा से भर गया तथा उसकी आँखों में एक गहरा भय बैठ गया।
वह चीखा, “नहीं, यह सच नहीं हो सकता।”
तथापि यह सच था।
तीसरा विश्व युद्ध प्रारंभ हो गया था।
और इस त्रासदीपूर्ण घटना का कारण था ‘जल संकट’।
वैसे देश जिनके पास शुद्ध पानी का बड़ा भंडार था, उस पर दूसरे देश पानी के ठिकानों पर कब्जा करने हेतु आक्रमण कर रहे थे।
क्या संपूर्ण मानवता ट हो जाएगी?
Passage-14: (Page 73)
He woke up trembling and realized that it was just a dream.
He thought that his dreadful nightmare could turn into a reality if no steps were taken for the proper management of water.
He was now firmly determined to impart training to the youths of the village on water management techniques, who in turn would train the entire village.
वह काँपते हुए उठा तथा महसूस किया कि यह महज एक सपना था।
उसने सोचा कि यह अचानक दु:स्वप्न वास्तविकता में परिणत हो सकती है यदि जल प्रबंधन के समुचित उपाय नहीं किए गए।
उसने दृढ़तापूर्वक यह सुनिश्चित किया कि वह ग्रामीण युवकों को जल प्रबंधन तकनीक का प्रशिक्षण प्रदान करेगा।
Passage-15: (Page 73)
It was three o’clock. The temple prayers were over.
All the villagers were returning with a solemn expression on their faces.
Women were holding the drowsy children in their arms.
The young village boys, great pals of Anna were keen to meet him.
Within no time, they reached his house.
Warm hugs were exchanged.
Anna narrated his terrible dream to them and they realized that only ‘pooja-paath’ will not solve this grave water problem.
तीन बजे थे। मंदिर की प्रार्थना समाप्त हो गई थी।
सभी गाँववाले अपने चेहरे पर पवित्र अभिव्यक्ति के साथ वापस लौट रहे थे।
महिलाएँ अपने उनींदे बच्चों को हाथों में लिए हुए थीं।
गाँव के युवा लड़के व अन्ना के अंतरंग मित्र अन्ना स मिलना चाहते थे। बिना देर किए वे अन्ना के घर पहुँचे।
सब बड़े ही गर्मजोशी से मिले।
अन्ना ने अपना भयावह सपना सभी को सुनाया।
वे इस नतीजे पर पहुँचे कि केवल पूजा-पाठ ही इस पानी की इस विषम समस्या को हल नहीं कर सकता।
Passage-16: (Page 73)
They discussed the importance of trees in conserving water.
In the forest, water seeps gently into the ground as vegetation breaks the fall.
This ground water in turn, feeds wells, lakes and rivers. Protecting forests means protecting water ‘catchments’.
They resolved that they will motivate everyone to plant and take care of at least one tree and prevent the indiscriminate cutting of trees.
उन्होंने जल के संरक्षण में वृक्षों के महत्व पर चर्चा किया।
जंगल में जल के स्रोत अच्छी तरह से मैदान में होते हैं।
क्योंकि वानिकीकरण इनके बहाव को रोकता है। धरातल का यह पानी कुओं, झीलों तथा नदियों को भरता है।
जंगलों के संरक्षण का तात्पर्य होता है ‘जल ग्रहण क्षेत्रों की संरक्षा।
उन्होंने यह संकल्प लिया कि वे प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को वृक्षारोपण तथा कम-से-कम एक पौधे की देख-रेख हेतु उत्प्रेरित करेंगे।
Passage-17: (Page 73)
Mahesh, a vibrant boy, with glowing eyes said,
“I know that over the years, rising population,
growing industrialization and expanding agriculture have pushed up the demand for water.”
He further said that people should develop a habit of saving water in their day-to-day lives because “every drop matters.”
एक गुंजायमान लड़के महेश ने, जिसकी आँखों में चमक थी, कहा,
“मैं जानता हूँ कि कई वर्षों से जनसंख्या में वृद्धि,
औद्योगीकरण में वृद्धि तथा कृषि के विस्तार ने पानी की माँग को बढ़ाया है।

Ramuda, a bright chap with calm, meditative face made his presence felt
and said “In urban areas, the construction of houses, footpaths and roads has left little exposed earth for water to soak in.
In parts of rural areas of India, floodwater quickly flows to the rivers, which then dry up soon after the rain stops
If this water can be held back, it can seep
into the ground and discharge the groundwater supply.”
रामूदा, एक बुद्धिमान, शांत तथा विचारशील युवक ने अपनी उपस्थिति दर्ज करायी
और कहा, “शहरी क्षेत्रों में घरों फुटपाथों तथा सड़कों के निर्माण ने धरती को पानी सोखने की समस्या को समाप्त कर दिया है।
भारत के ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में बाढ़ का पानी तेजी से नदियों की तरफ जाता है, तथा वर्षा समाप्त हो जाने पर सूख जाता है।
यदि इस पानी को वापस ले लिया जाए तो इसे मैदानों में जल-स्रोत के रूप में रखा जा सकता है तथा मैदान में पानी की आपूर्ति की जा सकती है।

Mahesh looked at Anna with questioning eyes,
“Bhaiya, I have heard of rain-water harvesting.
What is it?”
“Rainwater harvesting essentially means collecting rainwater on the roofs of buildings and storing it underground for later use.
Not only does this recharging stop groundwater depletion, it also raises the declining water level and can help increase water supply.
It is necessary to stop the decline in groundwater levels, prevent sea-water from moving landwards and conserve surface water run-off during the rainy season”, explained Anna.
महेश ने प्रश्नवाचक दृष्टि से अन्ना की तरफ देखा,
“भईया, मैंने वर्षा जल के संग्रहण के विषय में सुना है।
यह क्या है?”
वर्षा के जल के संग्रहण का अर्थ होता है, इमारतों की छत पर वर्षा के जल का संग्रह तथा बाद में उसके प्रयोग के लिए उसका भूमिगत रूप में संग्रहण।
यह न केवल जल की कमी को दूर करता है बल्कि भूतल में पानी के गिरते स्तर को भी बढ़ाता है एवं जल की आपूर्ति में वृद्धि करता है।
भूमि के जलस्तर में गिरावट को रोकना आवश्यक है। समुद्र के जल को खेतों की तरफ आने से हमें रोकता है। तथा वर्षा के दिनों में भूतल के बहने वाले जल को संरक्षित करता है।” अन्ना ने स्पष्ट किया।
Passage-20: (Page 74)
They realized that there is enough water and the need of the hour is to manage the available resources properly.
All of them made a strong resolution that they would start a movement for the conservation of the most precious thing on earth, that is, water.
They pledged, “We will start this noble work from today, only.”
उन्होंने महसूस किया कि पानी पर्याप्त मात्रा में है तथा समय की माँग यह है कि समुचित तरीकों से उपलब्ध संसाधनों का प्रबंधन किया जाए।
सभी ने यह दृढ़संकल्प किया कि वे पृथ्वी पर उपलब्ध सबसे कीमती चीज पानी के संरक्षण के लिए अभियान चलाएँगे।
उन्होंने प्रण किया, “हम लोग इस नेक कार्य को आज से ही प्रारंभ करेंगे।”

Their faces lit up, along with the landscape.
The glorious sun was rising in the crimsoned east.
Anna was elated to see this beautiful sight.
The rising sun always kindled an optimistic feeling in his heart.
The rising sun became a symbol of hope for the young, enthusiastic villagers.
It seemed to beckon a brighter future for mankind. The boys knew that every morning the first rays of the rising sun will remind them of their firm resolution.
उनके चेहरे भू-दृश्य के साथ प्रकाशमान हो उठे।
ओजस्वी सूर्य पूरब में उग रहा था। इस सुंदर दृश्य को देखकर अन्ना उल्लसित था।
उगता हुआ सूरज हमेशा हृदय में उत्साह तथा आशावादी भावनाओं का संचार करता है।
उगता हुआ सूरज गाँव के उत्साही युवकों में आशा का प्रतीक बन गया।
इसे मनुष्य के स्वर्णिम भविष्य का सूचक समझा जाता है।
लड़कों ने इस बात को जाना कि प्रत्येक सुबह ही सूरज की पहली किरण उनके दृढ़ संकल्प की याद दिलाएगी।
