Question 1.

Find the area of triangle ADE in given figure Class 9

Solution:

From given figure: AD = BC = 8 cm DC = 10 cm

Point E lies on line BC, so perpendicular distance from E to AD = 10 cm

∴ Area of ∆ADE = $\frac{1}{2}$ × base × height

= $\frac{1}{2}$ × AD × 10

= $\frac{1}{2}$ × 8 × 10

= 40 cm²

∴ Area of triangle ADE = 40 cm²
