Find the perimeter of squares with sides 1 cm, 1.5 cm, 2 cm, 2.5 cm and 3 cm. What will happen Class 9

Question 1.

Find the perimeter of squares with sides 1 cm, 1.5 cm, 2 cm, 2.5 cm and 3 cm. What will happen to the perimeters if the sides increase by 0.5 cm? Class 9

Answer:

We know that,

Perimeter of square of side x = 4x,

When x = 1 cm,

Perimeter = 4 × 1 = 4 cm

When x = 1.5 cm,

Perimeter = 4 × 1.5 = 6 cm

When x = 2 cm,

Perimeter = 4 × 2 = 8 cm

When x = 2.5 cm,

Perimeter = 4 × 2.5 = 10 cm

When x = 3 cm,

Perimeter = 4 × 3 = 12 cm

∴ If the side length increases by 0.5 cm, the perimeter increases by 2 cm.

Question 2.

A chess club charges a joining fee of ₹ 200 plus ₹ 50 for every match played. The following table shows the amount a player will have to pay as the number of matches varies. Class 9

Solution:

Total cost paid if m matches are played = ₹ (200 + 50 m)

∴ The amount paid increases by constant value of ₹ 50 for every additional match played.
