On a page in your book, draw a rectangular border that is 1 cm from the top and bottom and 1.5 cm from the left and right sides. What is the perimeter of the border? Class 6

[Note: Language of this question is diffective. Figure formed in the middle should not be called a border. If shaded portion is taken as border, then it has two boundaries.]

Unshaded portion is the border :

Perimeter of the border ABCD will depend on the length and breadth of the page.

Assuming the length and breadth of the page as 30 cm and 15 cm respectively, the perimeter of the border

= 2(30 - 1.5 - 1.5 + 15 - 1 - 1) cm = 2 × 40 = 80 cm.

Question 2.

Draw a rectangle of size 12 units x 8 units. Draw another rectangle inside it, without touching the outer rectangle that occupies exactly half the area. Class 6

Solution:

Rectangle has been drawn as required :

Area of ABCD = 96 sq. units.

Area of EFGH = 48 sq. units.
