The perimeter of a rectangle is 40 m. Its length is four metres less than five times its breadth. Find the area of the rectangle.

Question 3.

A wall of a room is of dimensions 5m × 4m. It has a window of dimensions 5 m × 1m and a door of dimensions 2.25 m × 1 m. Find the area of the wall which is to be painted.

Solution:

16.25 m²


Question 4.

Three squares are attached to each other as shown in the figure. Each square is attached at the mid-point of the side of the square to its right. Find the perimeter of the complete figure.

Solution:

Question 5.

Find the cost of fencing a rectangular park of length 175 m qnd breadth 125 m at the rate of ₹ 12 per metre.

Solution:

Length of the rectangular park = 175 m

Breadth of the rectangular park = 125 m

∴ Perimeter of the park

= 2 × (length + breadth)

= 2 × (175 m + 125 m)

= 2 × 300 m = 600 m.

∴ Cost of fencing = ₹ (600 × 12) = ₹ 7200.
