Place Reiaan's rectangular study table with three of its feet at the points (8, 9), (11,9) and (11,7). Class 9
Using the given figure, answer the given questions.

Question 1.
Place Reiaan's rectangular study table with three of its feet at the points (8, 9), (11,9) and (11,7). Class 9
i. Where will the fourth foot of the table be?
ii. Is this a good spot for the table?
iii. What is the width of the table? The length? Can you make out the height of the table?
Solution:
i. Let the three feet of the table be at A (8, 9), B (11, 9) and C (11, 7).

Let the fourth foot of the table be at D.
x coordinate of D = x coordinate of A = 8
y coordinate of D = y coordinate of C = 7
∴ The fourth foot of the table is at D(8, 7).
ii. The study table is not located at the corner but 1 ft away from the walls.
∴ This is not a good spot for the table.
iii. Length of the table = 11 - 8 = 3 ft
Width of the table = 9 - 7 = 2 ft
No. Height cannot be determined from 2-D coordinates.
