Suppose the length of a rectangle is 13 cm. Find the area if the breadth is (i) 12 cm, (ii) 10 cm, (iii) 8 cm Class 9

Question 1.

Suppose the length of a rectangle is 13 cm. Find the area if the breadth is (i) 12 cm, (ii) 10 cm, (iii) 8 cm. Find the linear pattern representing the area of the rectangle. Class 9

Solution:

Length of the rectangle = 13 cm

Let, the breadth of rectangle be b cm

Breadth (b cm)Area = (13 × b) cm2
1213 × 12 = 150cm2
1013 × 10 = 130cm2
813 × 8 = 104cm2

From the table, we observe that the area decreases by 26 cm² for every 2 cm decrease in the breadth.

∴ The linear pattern representing the area of the rectangle is 13 b.
