Activity 4.5 Let us investigate

Aim: To investigate the direction of motion of an object moving in a circular path when it is suddenly released, demonstrating Newton's First law of motion (Inertia).

Observation: When marble is released by lifting the ring, it moves in straight line because it continues to move in direction it has been moving at the instant the ring was removed.

Conclusion: When an object moves in circular motion, the velocity at a point is along the tangent to the circle at that point.
