Activity 6.3 Let us experiment (Demonstration activity)
Aim: To see the impact of applied force on acceleration of object.
Procedure: Two objects (cardboard cart and paper cup) of mass m1 and m2 are connected through thread and placed on smooth horizontal table through a pulley.

Let force F applies on paper cup of mass m2. The cup moves down due to gravitational force by Earth and thread will pull the cart with a constant force.
Note the time taken T1 by cart to reach the end of table.
Increase the mass of paper cup and note the time taken T2 by cart to reach the end of table.
If a1 and a2 are accelerations in two scenario, then s = [latex]\frac{1}{2}[/latex]a1T12 = [latex]\frac{1}{2}[/latex] a2T22
Conclusion: Acceleration of an object of mass m increases as the net force applied on it increases.
