Activity 6.7 Let us understand to demonstrate the Newton's Third Law of Motion. Class 9

Activity 6.7 Let us understand

Aim: To demonstrate the Newton's Third Law of Motion by observing the movement of a balloon with air rushing out through a straw cconnected by a thread.

Procedure: Stick a piece of drinking straw with adhesive tape on an inflated balloon tied with thread through drinking straw to hooks on opposite walls. Deflate the balloon and observe the direction of movement of balloon.

Conclusion: The stretched balloon applies force on air molecules inside it to expel them when it deflates. Air coming out of it exerts an equal force on the balloon in the opposite direction. This force moves balloon in a direction opposite to the direction in which air is coming out from balloon
