Answer:

Andre Beteille is an Indian scholar. His thoughts about religion could help us understand society as a whole. His comparative method of studying religions, traditions and practices is better. He studied religious beliefs and practices of different castes and tribes of Indian Subcontinent. Different tribal have different religions but the tribal religions have been influenced by Hinduism. In the same way, tribal deity also influenced the Hinduism. According to tradition, Jagannath, worshipped at Puri (Odisha), was originally a tribal deity. We can say that deities, concept, legends and rituals have been freely exchanged in both directions.

Make a list of popular gods and goddesses in your region and the festivals they are associated with. Class 6

Answer:

In my region, some popular Hindu gods and goddesses are:

1. Shiva: The festival of Shivratri is celebrated by singing bhajans, chanting prayers, living at fast.
2. Ram: Diwali is India’s biggest Hindu festival. It represents the spiritual victory of Dharma over Adharma.
3. Ganesha: The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with great pomp and show where people bring home idol of Ganesha worship him as the deity of good omen and then sink them in the water.
4. Durga: The festival of Durga Puja is held for many days with beautiful decorations and cultural performances. 
5. Krishna: Janmashtami is celebrated on the birthday of Lord Krishna with singing, dancing, and fasting. These festivals are colourful and full of joy!
