Solution:

For (i),

y + y + 15 + y + 15 = 180

or 3y = 180 - 30

or y = [latex]\frac {150}{3}[/latex] = 50°

So, angles are 50°, 65° and 65°.

For (ii),

x + x - 10 + x + 10 = 180

or 3x = 180, i.e., x = [latex]\frac {180}{3}[/latex] = 60°.

So, angles are 60°, 50° and 70°.

Question 2.

Write 4 equations whose solution is u = 6.

Solution:

2u - 12, u + 6 = 12, 3u + 2 = 20, 4u - 6 = 18, [latex]\frac {u}{3}[/latex] = 18.
