The price of 1 kg of oranges is ₹ 56.50. What is the price of 2.250 kg of oranges? Class 7

Question 1.

The price of 1 kg of oranges is ₹ 56.50. What is the price of 2.250 kg of oranges? Can we write 56.50 as 56.5 and 2.250 as 2.25 and multiply? Will we get the same product? Why? Class 7

Solution:

Price of 1 kg of oranges = ₹ 56.50.

So, price of 2.250 kg oranges = 2.250 × ₹ 56.50 = ₹ 127.125.

If we write 56.50 as 56.5 and 2.250 as 2.25, we will get the same product. Because zeros (0s) attached at end of the decimal part have no meaning.

Question 2.

Dwarakanath purchases notebooks at a wholesale price of ₹ 23.6 per piece and sells each notebook at ₹ 30/-. How much profit does he make if he sells 50 books in a week? Class 7

Solution:

C.P. of 1 notebook = ₹ 23.6

and S.P. of 1 notebook = ₹ 30

So, product of 1 notebook = ₹ 30 - ₹ 23.6

= ₹ 6.4.

So, total profit on 50 notebooks = 50 × ₹ 6.4 = ₹ 320.
