→  In order to speed up the economic development of Rajasthan, the process of planned development has been adopted since 1951 in the form of first five year plan.

  • Geographical Constraints
  • Economic Constraints
  • Social Constraints.

RBSE Class 11 Economics Notes Chapter 27 Constraints in the Economic Development of Rajasthan and Measures to Overcome Them

→ National and geographical constraints include huge desert of the west, status of Aravalli range, dependence on monsoon, famine and drought, regional variations, huge wasteland.

→ Economic constraints include lack of irrigational facilities, lack of allied agricultural facilities, lack of modem technology, lack of energy, lack of sufficient investment, backward infrastructure, poverty, and unemployment.

→ Social constraints include rapid population growth, low level of education and literacy, and orthodox social structure.

→ Aravalli Mountain range is situated from the south-west towards the north-east of the state.

→ This divides the state into two parts.

→ The western districts remain dry because they come under the rain shadow region. In these districts, the amount of rainfall is very low.

→Rajasthan has many variations in itself. On one hand, there is desert, while on the other hand, there is the mountain range, in the south, there is the plateau, while in the east, there are plains. Due to all these variations, the state could not develop collectively.

RBSE Class 11 Economics Notes Chapter 27 Constraints in the Economic Development of Rajasthan and Measures to Overcome Them

→ Rajasthan is the state with the condition of water scarcity.

→ Scarcity of drinking water is always a problem in desert regions.

→ In such a situation, it is very difficult to develop agriculture, animal husbandry and industrial development.

→ Due to the absence of irrigation facilities and lack of rainfall, the level of agricultural production is low.

→ Along with this, farmers are also deprived of other alternative sources of income such as animal husbandry, poultry farming, cottage industries etc.

→ Rajasthan is known as the Museum of Minerals, but due to lack of appropriate technical knowhow, we are unable to obtain and utilise these minerals adequately.

→ After independence, despite the adoption of the economic planning process of development, the problems of poverty and unemployment still persists in India.

→ Efforts are being made to overcome the problems of poverty and unemployment through various five year plans.

→ There is immense possibility of growth in the usage, of non-conventional sources such as solar energy and wind energy in Rajasthan.

→ Rajasthan is a centre of attraction for the tourists.

→ Both domestic and international tourists come to Rajasthan every year. Therefore, enough efforts should be made for the growth of tourism here.

RBSE Class 11 Economics Notes Chapter 27 Constraints in the Economic Development of Rajasthan and Measures to Overcome Them
