Explain the process that causes lightning. Class 8

Answer:

Lightning is caused by electric charges that build up in clouds. When warm, moist air rises, it creates strong winds that move ice particles and water droplets around. This rubbing creates static electricity, which causes positive and negative charges to separate within the cloud. When the difference in charge becomes too great, it creates a spark that we see as lightning. This spark can jump between clouds or from a cloud to the ground, producing a bright flash and a loud sound called thunder.
