Which of the entities in the picture (given in your textbook) consist of matter, and which of them do not? Class 8

Answer:

(i) Entities that consist of matter (they have mass and take up space) are books, trees and flowers, school building and ramp, students, metal railings, footballs, school bags, water bottles, lunch boxes, and the clothes of students, etc.

(ii) Entities that do not consist of matter (no mass or volume) are light from the sun, rainbow, shadows, heat, sound, emotions, or ideas, and warm colours in the sky etc. These entities do not have mass or occupy space and therefore are not considered matter.
