A Peek Beyond the Point Class 7 Short Question Answer

Question 1.

Find the value of 3[latex]\frac {8}{10}[/latex] and 8[latex]\frac {3}{100}[/latex] and express it in the form of a decimal number.

Solution:

3[latex]\frac {8}{10}[/latex] + 8[latex]\frac {3}{100}[/latex] = 3 + [latex]\frac {8}{10}[/latex] + 8 + [latex]\frac {3}{100}[/latex]

= 3 + 8 + [latex]\frac {8}{10}[/latex] + [latex]\frac {3}{100}[/latex]

= 11 + [latex]\frac {80}{100}[/latex] + [latex]\frac {3}{100}[/latex]

= 11 + [latex]\frac {83}{100}[/latex] = 11.83

Question 2.

Find the value of 6[latex]\frac {3}{100}[/latex] + [latex]\frac {36}{100}[/latex] - 5[latex]\frac {45}{100}[/latex] and express it in the form of a decimal number.

Solution:

6[latex]\frac {3}{100}[/latex] + [latex]\frac {36}{100}[/latex] - 5[latex]\frac {45}{100}[/latex]

= 6[latex]\frac {39}{100}[/latex] - 5[latex]\frac {45}{100}[/latex]

= 6 + [latex]\frac {39}{100}[/latex] - 5[latex]\frac {45}{100}[/latex]

= 5 + 1 + [latex]\frac {39}{100}[/latex] - (5 + [latex]\frac {45}{100}[/latex])

= 5 + [latex]\frac {100}{100}[/latex] + [latex]\frac {39}{100}[/latex] - 5 - [latex]\frac {45}{100}[/latex]

= [latex]\frac {139}{100}[/latex] - [latex]\frac {45}{100}[/latex] = [latex]\frac {94}{100}[/latex] = 0.94

Question 3.

Arrange 12.124, 12.104, 12.142, 12.204 in descending order.

Solution:

In descending order, these numbers are :

12.204 > 12.142 > 12.124 > 12.104

Question 4.

Which one is greater 1 m 82 cm + 64 cm or 2.5 cm ?

Solution:

1 m 82 cm + 64 cm

= 1 m + 82 cm + 64 cm

= 1 m + 146 cm

= 1 m + 1 m + 46 cm

= 2 m + 46 cm = 2.46 m

Thus, 2.5 m > 2.46 m. That is 2.5 m is greater.

Question 5.

Which among 5.56, 5.65 and 5.099 is closest to 6 ?

Solution:

6 - 5.56 = 0.44, 6 - 5.65 = 0.35 and 6 - 5.099 = 0.901.

Among 0.44, 0.35 and 0.901, 0.35 is the smallest.

So, 5.65 is closest to 6.
