Question 1.

A tap takes 15 seconds to fill a mug of water. The volume of the mug is 500 mL. How much time does the same tap take to fill a bucket of water if the bucket has a 10-litre capacity? Class 8

Solution:

For 500 mL, time required

= 15 seconds .

So, for 10000 mL, time required

= [latex]\frac{15}{500}[/latex] × 10000 seconds 500

= 15 × 20 = 300 seconds

= [latex]\frac{300}{60}[/latex] = 5 minutes

Question 2.

One acre of land costs ₹ 15,00,000. What is the cost of 2,400 square feet of the same land? Class 8

Solution:

1, acre = 43560 sq. ft

Cost of 43560 sq. ft = ₹ 15,00,000

So, cost of 2400 sq. ft = ₹[latex]\frac{15,00,000}{43560}[/latex] × 2400

= ₹ 82644.63
