Question 1.
Apiece of string is 36 cm long. What will be the length of each side, if it is used to form : Class 6
(а) A square,
(b) A triangle with all sides of equal length, and
(c) A hexagon (a six sided closed figure) with sides of equal length?
Solution:
(a) For square, length of the side
= [latex]\frac{36 \mathrm{~cm}}{4}[/latex] = 9 cm
(b) For triangle, length of the side
= [latex]\frac{36 \mathrm{~cm}}{3}[/latex] = 12 cm
(c) For hexagon, length of the side
= [latex]\frac{36 \mathrm{~cm}}{6}[/latex] = 6 cm
Question 2.
A farmer has a rectangular Held having length 230 m and breadth 160 m. He wants to fence it with 3 rounds of rope as shown (figure given in textbook). What is the total length of rope needed? Class 6
Solution:
Perimeter of the field = 2(230 + 160) m = 780 m.
So, length of rope needed for fencing 1 round = 780 m.
Hence, length of rope needed for fencing 3 rounds = 3 × 780 m = 2340 m.
