a = 180 - 42 = 138

(ii)

Solution:

a = 180 - 62 = 118

(iii)

Solution:

p = 180° - 110° = 70°

So, q = 70° (Corresponding angles)

Hence, a = 70 + 35 = 105 (Corresponding angles)

(iv)

Solution:

a = 180 - 67 - 90 = 180 - 157 = 23.

In the figures below, what angles do x and y stand for? Class 7

(i)

Solution:

(i) p° = 90° - 65° = 25°

So, x = 25.

Further, p° + y° = 180°

So, 25° + y° = 180°

Hence, y - 180 - 25 = 155.

(ii)

Solution:

r° = 53° (Corresponding angles)

Also, r° + x° = 78° (Corresponding angles)

So, 53° + x° = 78°

i.e., x = 78 - 53 = 25.
