For each of the following angles, find another angle for which a triangle is: Class 7

Question 1.

For each of the following angles, find another angle for which a triangle is

(i) possible, (ii) not possible. Find at least two different angles for each category : Class 7

(a) 30°

(b) 70°

(c) 54°

(d) 144°

Solution:

(i) Possible :

(a) 110°, 50°,

(b) 60°, 40°,

(a) 60°, 65°,

(d) 20°, 10°.

(ii) Not possible :

(a) 150°, 155°,

(b) 120°, 110°,

(c) 130°, 135°,

(d) 36°, 40°.

Question 2.

Determine which of the following pairs can be the angles of a triangle and which cannot: Class 7

(a) 35°, 150°

(b) 70°, 30°

(c) 90°, 85°

(d) 50°, 150°

Solution:

(a) Cannot, because 35° + 150° = 185° > 180°.

(b) Can, because 70° + 30° = 100° < 180°.

(c) Can, because 90° + 85° = 175° < 180°.

(d) Cannot, because 50° + 150° = 200° > 180°.
