The Baudhayana-Pythagoras Theorem Class 8 Long Question Answer

The Baudhayana-Pythagoras Theorem Class 8 Long Question Answer

Question 1.

Using the fact that 169 is an odd square number, find a Baudhayana triple.

Solution:

169 is [latex]\frac{169+1}{2}[/latex] th = 85th odd number.

So, we have 1 + 3 + 5 + ... + 169 = 85².

Now, we have 85² - 169 = 7225 - 169

= 7056 = 84².

So, (13, 84, 85) is a Baudhayana triple.

Question 2.

Write 5 more Baudhayana triples for Baudhayana primitive triple (8, 15, 17).

Solution:

The five required triples are :

(16, 30, 34); (24, 45, 51); (32, 60, 68); (40, 75, 85) and (48, 90, 102).
