Question 1.

What is the expression obtained by adding the 3 terms of any row, column or diagonal? Class 7

Solution:

Expression obtained in each case is 3m (magic sum)

Question 2.

Write the result obtained by— Class 7

(a) adding 1 to every term in the generalised form.

(b) doubling every term in the generalised form

Solution:

(a) Magic sum is increased by 1 × 3 = 3. That is, it becomes 3m + 3.

(b) Magic sum becomes double of the magic sum of the original magic square. That is, becomes 2 × 3m = 6m.

Question 3.

Create a magic square whose magic sum is 60. Class 7

Solution:

Magic sum = 60

So, number at the centre = [latex]\frac {60}{3}[/latex] = 20.
