We shall need the length of each side of the hexagon. It will divided into six congruent equilateral triangles of side equal to side of the hexagon.

Solution:
Through P, draw QR || AB. Then, it will be parallel to CD also.
Now, area of ∆PAB = [latex]\frac{1}{2}[/latex] area of rectangle
ABQR and area of ∆PCD = [latex]\frac{1}{2}[/latex] area of rectangle QRCD.
So, area of blue region = [latex]\frac{1}{2}[/latex] area of ∆PAB + area of ∆PCD = [latex]\frac{1}{2}[/latex] area of rectangle ABCD.
So, area of the blue region = [latex]\frac{1}{2}[/latex] of the area of the rectangle.
