Aim: To test whether water transportation in plants is quicker in warm or cold conditions.

Procedure:

  1. Take two beakers filled with 2/3 coloured water.
  2. Cut the ends of the body celery stalks and put it each in two beakers.
  3. Put one beaker in a sunny location (warm location) and another under the shed (cold location).
  4. After three hours, observe the level of colour in each stalk.
  5. The celery in the warm condition shows coloured veins higher and quicker than the celery in cold conditon.
  6. This shows water transpiration in plants is quicker in warm than cold condition.
