Aim: To test whether water transportation in plants is quicker in warm or cold conditions.
Procedure:
- Take two beakers filled with 2/3 coloured water.
- Cut the ends of the body celery stalks and put it each in two beakers.
- Put one beaker in a sunny location (warm location) and another under the shed (cold location).
- After three hours, observe the level of colour in each stalk.
- The celery in the warm condition shows coloured veins higher and quicker than the celery in cold conditon.
- This shows water transpiration in plants is quicker in warm than cold condition.
