Inequalities within society can exist in many forms. Have you encountered any incident where you or anyone you know might have been made to feel different from others? Do you think equality is desirable in a society? If so, why? Have you come across people or initiatives that lessened inequalities? Class 7

Inequalities within society can exist in many forms such as wealth, caste, creed, gender and race. In some villages, I had seen people of lower caste cannot sit with upper caste people. It is strange that the utensils used for food are clean even by these people.

Yes, equality is desirable in a society because:

1. Every person has different brain capability if opportunity is for him/her can prove geneousness, contribute to society and it develop.
2. People feel respected, confident and live unitedly and reduces conflicts.
3. A fair peaceful and happy society will develop.

The work done for lessened inequality:

1. Government has passed many laws to reduce inequality. Free education, textbooks, stationery and dresses, mid-day meal and scholarship for poor students.
2. Many religious places, NGOs and corporates houses donate for education and health services for poor families.
3. Many literate people in society help poor or weaker students so that can learn equally.
