Find the missing terms: (а) Perimeter of a rectangle = 14 cm; breadth = 2 cm; length = ?. Class 6

Question 1.

Find the missing terms :

(а) Perimeter of a rectangle = 14 cm; breadth = 2 cm; length = ?. Class 6

(b) Perimeter of a square = 20 cm; side of a length = ?.

(c) Perimeter of a rectangle = 12 m; length = 3 m; breadth = ?.

Solution:

(a) Length = [latex]\frac{\text { Perimeter }}{2}[/latex] - Breadth

= [latex]\frac{14 \mathrm{~cm}}{2}[/latex] - 2cm

= 7 cm - 2 cm = 5 cm.

(b ) Length of the side of the square

= [latex]\frac{\text { Perimeter }}{4}[/latex] = [latex]\frac{20}{4}[/latex] cm = 5 cm

(c) Breadth = [latex]\frac{\text { Perimeter }}{2}[/latex] - Length

= [latex]\frac{12}{2}[/latex]m - 3m

= 6m - 3m = 3m.

Question 2.

A rectangle having side lengths 5 cm and 3 cm is made using a piece of wire. If the wire is straightened and then bent to form a square, what will be the length of a side of the square? Class 6

Solution:

Length, of the wire

= Perimeter of the rectangle

= 2(5 + 3) cm = 16 cm.

So, length of the side of the square

= [latex]\frac{16}{4}[/latex] = 4 cm.
