I have one bucket of orange paint that I made by mixing red and yellow paints in the ratio of 3 : 5. Class 8

Question 1.

I have one bucket of orange paint that I made by mixing red and yellow paints in the ratio of 3 : 5. I added another bucket of yellow paint to this mixture. What is the ratio of red paint to yellow paint in the new mixture? Class 8

Solution:

Let in the original paint,

red paint = 3x mL and yellow paint = 5x mL

Paint in bucket = 3x + 5x = 8x mL

After adding one bucket of yellow paint to the original mixture,

red paint in the new mixture = 3x mL

and yellow paint in the new mixture

= 5x + 8x mL = 13x mL

So, ratio of red paint and yellow paint in the new mixture is 3x : 13x = 3 : 13.
