Which is greater — the LCM of two numbers or their product? Class 7

Question 1.

Which is greater — the LCM of two numbers or their product? Class 7

Solution:

Their product (Except No. 1)

Question 2.

Explore whether the LCM is a factor of the product in the following cases. If yes, identify the number that the LCM should be multiplied by to get the product. Do you see any pattern? Use these numbers: Class 7

(a) 45, 105

Solution:

LCM = 15 × 3 × 7 = 315.

As [latex]\frac{45 \times 105}{315}[/latex] = 15, so LCM is a factor of the product.

Required multiplies is 15.

(b) 275, 352

Solution:

So, LCM is 11 × 25 × 32 = 11 × 800 = 8800

As [latex]\frac{275 \times 352}{8800}[/latex] = 11, so LCM is a factor of the product.

Required multiplier is 11.

(c) 222, 370

Solution:

So, LCM is 2 × 37 × 3 × 15

As [latex]\frac{222 \times 370}{2 \times 37 \times 3 \times 5}[/latex] = 74, so LCM is a factor of the product.

Required multiplier is 74.
