Despite these challenges, many people choose to live in the mountains because:

  1. Fresh air: Air is, to a great extent, free from polluting gases and dust particles. It increases their healthy life and reduce respiratory diseases.
  2. Natural beauty: There is a natural beauty and no sound or light pollution but peaceful life.
  3. Outdoor activities: In mountains, the outdoor activities are different from other landforms; such as climbing, skiing, paragliding and hiking.
  4. Tourism: Mountain region attracts the people, so they spend a lot of money there. Tourism enriches their economy. Hindus believe that bathing in rivers can clean sins and lead to heaven.
