Solution:

Rectangle has the greater area, because corresponding height of the parallelogram is less than the breadth of the rectangle.


Question 2.

Give a method to obtain a rectangle whose area is twice that of a given triangle. What are the different methods that you can think of?

Solution:

Let ABC be a triangle.

Now, make a rectangle BCDE enclosing the triangle. Area of rectangle BCDE is twice that of ∆ABC.

There can be other methods also.
