easyFind out if the class average marks in Odia is greater than the class average marks in Telugu. Class 8
Question 1.
Find out if the class average marks in Odia is greater than the class average marks in Telugu. Class 8
Solution:
Class average in Odia
= [latex]\frac{25+41+29+47+33+27+16}{7}[/latex]
= [latex]\frac{218}{7}[/latex]
Class average in Telugu
= [latex]\frac{39+43+31+46+35+29+19}{7}[/latex]
= [latex]\frac{242}{7}[/latex]
No, class average marks in Odia is not greater than that of Telugu, because
[latex]\frac{218}{7}[/latex] < [latex]\frac{242}{7}[/latex]
Question 2.
Find the mean of the following data and share your observations : Class 8
(i) The first 50 natural numbers.
(ii) The first 50 odd numbers.
(iii) The first 50 multiples of 4.
Solution:
(i) Sum of first 50 natural numbers
= 1 + 2 + 3 + ...+ 50 = 1275
So, their mean = [latex]\frac{1275}{50}[/latex] = [latex]\frac{255}{10}[/latex] = [latex]\frac{51}{2}[/latex] = 25.5.
(ii) Sum of first 50 odd numbers
= 1 + 3 + 5 + ... = 50²
= 2500
So, their mean = [latex]\frac{2500}{50}[/latex] = 50.
(iii) Sum of first 50 multiples of 4
= 4 + 8 + 12 + ... + 200
= 5100
So, their mean [latex]\frac{5100}{50}[/latex] = 102.
