Parallel and Intersecting Lines Class 7 Long Question Answer

Parallel and Intersecting Lines Class 7 Long Question Answer

Question 1.

In the given figure, if l is parallel to m, find the value of 2a + b + c.

Solution:

a = 132° (Corresponding angles)

b = 180° - 132° = 48° (Linear pair)

c = 132° (Vertically opposite angles)

So, 2a + b + c = 2 × 132° + 48° + 132°

= 264° + 180

= 444°.

Question 2.

In the given figure, if l and m are two parallel lines intersected by the transversal p and q, find the value of x + y.

Solution:

p is a transversal to lines l and m.

So, x + 48° = 180°.

That is, x = 180° - 48° = 132°.

(Interior angles on the same side of the transversal)

Also, q is a transversal to lines l and m.

So, y = 66° (Alternate angles)

Hence, x + y = 132° + 66° = 198°.
