Find the area of a rhombus whose diagonals are 20 cm and 15 cm. Class 8

Question 1.

Find the area of a rhombus whose diagonals are 20 cm and 15 cm. Class 8

Solution:

Area of rhombus

= [latex]\frac{1}{2}[/latex] d1 × d2 = [latex]\frac{1}{2}[/latex] × 20 × 15 = 150 sq. cm.

Question 2.

Give a method to convert a rectangle into a rhombus of equal area using dissection. Class 8

Solution:

Let ABCD be a given rectangle.

Step 1. With D as centre and AB as radius, draw an arc to intersect AB at a point E.

Step 2. Join DE.

Step 3. Cut ∆ADE and attach it with the side BC as shown in the figure in the form ∆BCF.

Then, we obtain a rhombus EFCD which is equal in area to rectangle ABCD.
